Women’s empowerment in Armenia: Time to do more and better!

March 8 – International women’s day: a day to commemorate, not to congratulate!

While many countries celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, Armenia kicked off a whole month dedicate to honoring women. It continues through April 7 – the Day of Motherhood and Beauty. Throughout the month, family members, friends and partners shower women with flowers, perfume and other gifts – so much so that the price of flowers significantly increases around this time of year. So, in Armenia Women’s Day is another story because it’s is an opportunity not only to highlight women’s role in society, but also to reflect on challenges to women’s rights, empowering girls and women, to continue the positive effect made by velvet revolution.

World Wildlife Day – In Armenia

World Wildlife Day, which is celebrated annually on March 3, is dedicated to celebrating and raising awareness about the world’s wild fauna and flora, and to recognizing the important role played by CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of World Fauna and Flora) in protecting wildlife for this and future generations.

World Cancer Day – In Armenia

World Cancer Day is an international day marked on February 4 to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.

The primary goal of World Cancer Day is to significantly reduce illness and death caused by cancer and is an opportunity to rally the international community to end the injustice of preventable suffering from cancer.

World Wetlands Day – In Armenia

World Wetlands Day is annually held on February 2 to celebrate how wetlands, which are lands saturated by water, help maintain biodiversity on Earth.
Governments, community groups, and individuals around the world celebrate World Wetlands Day with special campaigns to promote the important value that the wetlands play in our lives. The day is promoted via social media, radio and TV broadcasts, and newspapers.
